Moonshiners, formed by Gamblin’ Sam (vocals and harp), Susie Filipe (drums) and Vítor Hugo (vocals and guitar), are a blues/rock that combines explosive riffs with galvanizing rhythms.
In October 2013, after a long Portuguese tour, Moonshiners released a homonymous EP: six original songs about whiskey and beer, conversations between God and the Devil and requiems for a love gone wrong.
2015 starts with the launching of second EP “Good News For Girls Who Have No Sex Appeal”, with special quest The Legendary Tigerman. From chaotic songs like “Louie” to melancolic ones like “Man On Wire”, it reveals a band pointing in different musical directions and seeking new ways of doing what they love to do.
In 2017, they perform at Eurosonic Noorderslag (Holland), Veszprémi Utcazene Fesztivál (Hungary) and play a mini-tour in Spain.
“Prohibition Edition”, the band’s first full length, is released in February 2018. Composed of 10 very different songs, rhythmically and melodically, “Prohibition Edition” is the synthesis Moonshiners’ musical life until now. The presentation tour included some of the main festivals and venues in Portugal and has already passed through Sweden, Canada, Spain and Holland.
At the moment, Moonshiners, winners of Pop Eye award for best Portuguese group 2018, continue on tour and are accompanied live by Bruno Barreto (Bass), Gabriel Neves (Saxophone) and Carlos Lázaro (keyboards).
